Thank you for visiting this page. Cuddles Cattery closed down completely at the end of 2019. www.snuggleinncattery.ie has been set up in the same general area by previous customers of Cuddles Charlotte and Eddie Concannon (and Baby Boy and Baby Girl) using our buildings and equipment. I’m sure they’ll be happy to deal with any boarding enquiries you may have.
This page is being edited at present so please bear with me. I want to make sure I have saved the images before I delete them!
“Caring is what we do best at Cuddles,
Caring for your cat and caring about you too.”
Welcome to Cuddles Cattery, the only 5-Star Cat Hotel in the West of Ireland, where all cuddles are free. If you are looking for a home from home holiday experience for your much loved cat while you are away then you have certainly come to the right place. We understand that you are looking for somewhere safe, secure and reliable so that you and your cat will have a stress free holiday and more importantly your cat will relax in purrfect comfort for the duration of his or her stay in our luxury 5-Star facility.
We understand how much you will miss your kitty (even if you don’t like to admit it) and fortunately it is our experience that we miss them more than they miss us! We are always happy to reply to your texts or emails while your cat holidays here for your peace of mind.
Our Feline Family
Pictured above are Ted, Dougal and Dolly-Doyle who live here. Ted is a real divil! He knows who is boss (he is) and usually gets his own way. He gets up to all kinds of mischief but I love him to bits. Dougal has just three legs and no tail but he gets around okay. Sometimes he falls over but that doesn’t stop him. Dougal also has a forked tongue and a cauliflower ear. He is a complete sweetheart. Dolly-Doyle is the latest addition to our feline family. She joined us when her owner Patricia died suddenly and prematurely in 2016. Dolly-Doyle is the cutest little cat (weighing just 2.5kg) but she certainly punches above her weight. She adores Ted and is constantly by his side and when she gets a chance she tries to bully Dougal (who is more than twice her size!)
A bit about Muriel
Next there is me (Muriel). I have had cats in my life since I was a child when I “rescued” a mother cat with three kittens from a field and brought them home. They became part of my world and at the time I never thought that one day cats would be my life! I have had many wonderful felines in my heart since my childhood. In my adult life after doing many other things my dream came true when I opened the doors of Cuddles Cattery for the first time on 4th July 2005. The main reason I set up Cuddles was because I could not find a cattery locally in which to board my own cats that met my very high standards. At Cuddles, we are proud to say that we continue to be Galway’s Purr-fect cat boarding in our quiet oasis just outside Athenry.
Each suite consists of a full height bedroom to the rear complete with radiator and its own private play room to the front. When the bedroom door is closed your cat can choose to access his play room through a cat flap. For your cat’s comfort radiators are on in the bedrooms 24/7 during the winter and most of the time during the summer months too. A warm cat is a happy cat!
Your cat’s play room has its own viewing platform where guests like to sit and take in the surrounding countryside. Some of them also like to keep an eye on what their feline neighbours are up to and they can do this safely as each suite is completely separate and sealed from its neighbour.
The playrooms all open out into our safety corridor which is vital if your cat happens to be a “Houdini”. The cattery faces onto our busy bird feeders and is in our back garden in direct view of our house. We have many varieties of feathered friends coming to entertain our guests with their chirping around the feeders and queues for the bird bath.
For multi cat feline families who sometimes squabble and may need to be separated from each other at times, or when we have three or more cats boarding from the same family, we have the facility to join two suites together via a lockable cat flap. Ask about this if it applies to your cats.
Dogs are not allowed to stay at Cuddles, nor are they welcome to visit. Many cats do not like the sight or sound of dogs and for that reason Cuddles is a Dog-Free-Zone.
Guests are served wet and/or dry food (according to their normal diets) twice daily as a rule. However, we sometimes make exceptions and feed more often, particularly when we have very young guests staying. We keep a large range of the more popular quality foods here. However, if your cat is on a special diet we would ask that you bring sufficient food for his/her stay. We are happy to offer our guests (those who are allowed) roast turkey at Christmas and we often cook a chicken to share around on Sundays.
Room Service is provided for all guests as required, with an absolute minimum of 6 visits to each cat per day and usually many, many more….
Cuddles Cattery puts your cat’s safety and comfort first so that you can have total peace of mind while you are unable to care for him or her yourself. Built by Pedigree Pens in the UK, Cuddles Cattery conforms to the highest specifications possible and complies with the standards set by the UK Feline Advisory Bureau. The building is made from PVCu and toughened safety glass. Our guests can get plenty of fresh air through the outer sturdy mesh panels. Unlike timber, PVCu does not become infected with fungal infections such as ringworm. It does not require the application of toxic preservatives and is easy to keep clean with plenty of elbow grease.
At Cuddles all cats are constantly supervised and the cattery is securely located directly behind and in full view of the house.
Muriel, Ted, Dougal and Dolly-Doyle would like to thank those who have chosen to stay with us to date and we hope to see many of you again soon. We are delighted that many of the cats who have boarded here continue to come back again to spend their holidays at Cuddles. Thank you to those cats (and their servants!) as without them we would not be here.
Where are we?
We are located in Athenry, Co. Galway (just off the M6 Dublin-Galway motorway). We can send directions from your starting point if you send an email to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
