Tribbles is in Trouble!

1st November 2019 By Cuddles Leave a Comment

Tribbles

Tribbles has been a much adored cat since he came into Vera’s life 8 years ago as a young kitten. Sadly Vera’s health has not been good of late and she is longer able to care for Tribbles herself. Tribbles means everything to Vera. A large framed photo of Tribbles decorates her nursing home dressing table, not pictures of her children or any other humans.

Tribbles relaxing

The first time Tribbles holidayed at Cuddles his owner gave us a bit of extra information on her booking form, saying “Tribbles is a real outdoor cat, he comes home at mealtimes and sleeps on my bed. He is never out at night.” She went on to say: “He enjoys ham, a slice with every meal”! His favourite foods are Gourmet and other luxury brands.” Her daughter has added more information about Tribbles.  Vera’s daughter says: “Vera fell instantly in love with Tribbles when he arrived as a kitten. She went out and furnished him with all the fine things in life, fancy baskets and toys. Tribbles would always lie near to Vera and for a long period slept at the bottom of her bed. If Vera was sick Tribbles would lie on her lap as if he knew she was sick. Tribbles would ask to go out usually at 10am to do his toilet. He is completely house trained. Tribbles would ask for food and then go walkabout, usually returning in the afternoon for more food and a drink. Tribbles would stay near the house and when Vera returned in the car he would immediately appear saying hello to her until he got her attention and a big rub. Tribbles did not like it when I (Vera’s daughter) showed up and he would sit in my chair waiting for me to go again.”

Tribbles showing his shy side

If you have a place in your home/garden and heart, please think about giving Tribbles a home. He is an entertaining cat, loves catnip, playing with balls and milk bottle rounds. Tribbles is residing at Cuddles Cattery at present and if you would like to come and meet him please contact Muriel to arrange a time.

Can you help this Black Beauty?

25th April 2017 By Cuddles Leave a Comment

KitKat

This beautiful black cat (KitKat) is looking for a new home.  His elderly owner is sadly no longer able to care for him herself and she would dearly love him to find a new home.

KitKat is a real lap-cat and likes nothing better than keeping you company, especially in front of the fire!  He is accustomed to a quiet household, with no young children or dogs and he is seeking a similar home. If possible, he would like access to a quiet garden, though this is not a must as he is litter-trained and he spends most of his time indoors. His owner thinks he would be equally happy in a totally indoor home, as he is not used to busy roads, and prefers to laze around the house most of the time.

He is approximately five years old and is in perfect health. He was neutered when he was young and his vaccinations are up-to-date.  He is a very sweet, gentle, easy-going cat and is no trouble at all.

Would KitKat make your home complete?  If you would like to come and meet him just let us know and we can arrange a visit.

Nine New Lives for Nine Cats!

22nd January 2017 By Cuddles 4 Comments

Here at last is the promised update on the nine cats who became homeless last summer when their owner Tricia passed away very suddenly and prematurely. It took some time to find purr-fect homes for these adult cats and we are delighted to report that fabulous homes have now been found for all nine of them.

Zoe and Fleur

The first cat to go to a new home was Zoe. She moved in with another feline called Fleur. According to her new human it took a lot of time and patience but eventually Zoe bonded with Fleur and they are now the best of pals. See them here cuddled up together!

Mr No Name

The next cat to find a home was Mr No Name. His new humans felt it may be confusing for him to change his name so Mr. No Name he continues to be. He has a lovely home with large garden in the countryside and another feline for company. Here he is in one of his favourite spots, able to watch what is happening outside, and ready to spot a snack in the kitchen! You can read more about Mr No Name here more about Mr No Name

Steve (formerly Buddy) and Sally

Steve (formerly Buddy) was next to go and Sally joined him a few weeks later. They have both settled into the home of another feline called Figaro. Naturally Steve gets on well with Sally as they lived together in their previous lives. Steve gets on well with Figaro too. Figaro is so far a little wary of Sally but my guess is that they will get along with each other better and better as time goes on. Pictured above are Steve on the arm of the couch and Sally curled up beside him. Another happy outcome. Steve was rehomed very early on and Sally’s early story is here more about Sally

Molly on her new couch

Molly’s new humans fell in love with her as soon as they met her. Molly made herself at home immediately when she moved in with two humans, three dogs and two other cats. Her home is very near Cuddles Cattery so I often meet her. It is fair to say Molly rules the roost in her new home and she commands prime position on the couch! Doesn’t she look content? Here’s Molly’s early story more about Molly

Millie on her sheepskin rug

Millie didn’t really like the other eight cats she shared a home with, as she was Tricia’s first cat. She considered herself to be a little above the others and often told them off. She was offered a great home by a lady who didn’t already have a cat. Millie is now very happy and comfortable in her new home. Here she is kneading her favourite sheepskin rug.

Sammy with Hunter

Sammy (Sad Eyes) was next to move on. After meeting him when their cat Hunter was on holidays at Cuddles, Hunter’s owners decided to offer him a home. It took a little while for Hunter to accept him but they are getting along with each other better as each week goes by. Here they are sharing the couch. It is clear that Sammy is well settled and happy in his new life. He doesn’t go out much, but prefers to lounge around the house!  Isn’t he right?  Here is Sammy’s early story more about Sammy

Heidi with Scamp

Heidi was the last cat to find a new home. She moved in with older feline called Scamp, whose sister Lily passed away at the time Heidi became homeless. Scamp was very lonely without Lily. As with Hunter, Scamp met Heidi on a holiday at Cuddles and the two cats were introduced to each other here. Scamp is displaying more kitten-like behaviour since Heidi moved in with her. Her new humans are delighted she has joined their family and treasure her. Heidi’s big sister Scamp is now 15 years old and Heidi helped celebrate her birthday in style recently!  Here’s Heidi’s earlier story more about Heidi

Ted with Dolly-Doyle

Finally, there’s Dolly-Doyle. Many of you will know Dolly-Doyle is now a permanent member of our family here at Cuddles. She’s our little angel and although she can be a little monkey at times we are delighted that she has joined our family. Here is Dolly-Doyle looking up to her hero, Ted. Dougal has been known to share a chair with her on several occasions too. Anyone who has visited Cuddles recently will have met her and some have been tempted to steal her from us. She really is adorable. Here is her early story more about Dolly-Doyle

So that’s all nine cats happily rehomed.  We are so pleased that we were able to assist these lovely cats.  We will always remember Tricia fondly.  She was a regular customer of Cuddles and she dearly loved all her cats and devoted much of her life to rescuing and raising funds for needy cats.   A total of €380 was raised at Cuddles in memory of Tricia, who had originally given a home to these cats, all of whom had been rescued by her in conjunction with Galway Cat Rescue. After veterinary expenses of €35 we passed the remainder on to Galway Cat Rescue in Tricia’s name.

Thank you to all the customers and friends of Cuddles who made all of this possible.

Loving Homes Wanted (Part 5 – Mr. No Name)

2nd September 2016 By Cuddles Leave a Comment

Go on, pick me!

(Home Now Found – see below)

I’m Mr. No Name

Mr No Name

Many of you will know that cat-lover extraordinaire Patricia Knight died suddenly and very prematurely last month (August 2016).  She had owned nine lovely pet cats.  Several of these cats are being accommodated in Cuddles for the moment, while suitable homes are being sought for them. Homes have already been found for Zoe and Buddy and we at Cuddles have decided to integrate Dolly into our own family.  Ted and Dougal are being very accommodating so far and we are finding the introduction process a lot easier than we imagined. Check back soon for updates on how Dolly is settling in.

We have decided to feature one of Tricia’s cats each day this week and Friday’s cat is “Mr. No Name.  Here is his story…

Mr. No Name had been living with Tricia for at least two years, but nobody knows his name.

For some reason he never boarded at Cuddles with his “brothers and sisters”, but he was definitely a member of the family for at least the past two years. He was obviously much loved as he is healthy, neutered and a friendly boy who loves food and petting in equal measure. As soon as he spots a human approaching he rolls over onto his back for a tummy tickle.

As with Tricia’s other cats, Mr. No Name would be happy to join another cat family as he gets on extremely well with the other cats. However, he would be just as happy to be the only one in a single cat family. All he wants is a snug bed or box to curl up in and as long as the food and cuddles keep coming he will be easily convinced to like a new home.

As with Tricia’s other cats Mr. No Name will need six weeks indoor confinement to adjust to a his new surroundings and home.

Could Mr. No Name be the one for you? If so, please contact Galway Cat Rescue by email at galwaycats@gmail.com or send them a message via Facebook.

Update

Mr No Name has been adopted. He went to his new home on Wednesday 14th September. Lucky Mr No Name and lucky family.

Loving Homes Wanted (Part 4 – Heidi)

1st September 2016 By Cuddles Leave a Comment

Will you consider me?

My name is Heidi.

Many of you will know that cat-lover extraordinaire Patricia Knight died suddenly and very prematurely last month (August 2016).  She had owned nine lovely pet cats.  Several of these cats are being looked after in Cuddles for the moment, while suitable homes are being sought for them. Homes have already been found for Zoe and Buddy and we at Cuddles have decided to integrate Dolly into our own family.  Ted and Dougal are being very accommodating so far and we are finding the introduction process a lot easier than we imagined. Check out our Facebook page for updates on how Dolly is settling in.

We are featuring one of Tricia’s cats each day this week. Thursday’s cat is Heidi.

Heidi
Heidi

Heidi along with Sammy (Wednesday’s cat) were from a TNR (trap, neuter, return) colony of cats from the Riverside area of Galway.  She came to Galway Cat Rescue at 4 months old.  Similarly to Molly and Sally, Tricia offered Heidi and Sammy a foster home and tamed them. A little time passed and Tricia adopted these two as she couldn’t bear to part with them.

Heidi lives up to her name, loving somewhere secure to hide away, but wants to watch what is going on. She is a little shy with new people but once she is around you for a while she will learn to trust you and it is so rewarding in particular to see Heidi relax. Just like Tricia’s other cats, Heidi loves to have the freedom to go out and play and can spend hours outside exploring happily, after which she loves to curl up in a nice secure, warm place.  Heidi has been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and flea/wormed.  Heidi will take a little time to adjust but with patience and a gentle approach she will relax. She loves under chin and face rubs.  Heidi is used to a quiet house without children but older children would be acceptable. She gets on very well with other cats.

Do you have the purrfect home for Heidi? If so, please contact Galway Cat Rescue by email at galwaycats@gmail.com or send them a message via Facebook.

A bit about Muriel

I have had cats in my life since I was a child when I "rescued" a mother cat with three kittens from a field and brought them home. They became part of my world and at the time I never thought that one day cats would be my life! My dream came true when I opened the doors of Cuddles Cattery for the first time on 4th July 2005. The main reason I set up Cuddles was because I could not find a cattery locally in which to board my own cats that met my high standards. Read More…
